Today is really the day which supersedes every other day in importance. It started off quite normally with dragging myself out of bed quite early in the morning, heavily deprived of sleep due to a combination of intense work the day before preparing for the checkride and a general sense of excitement about what the day might bring. I got to school in good time and did all my preparations. John Saverance, aka “Mr. Fred”, or “Fast-finger Freddy” was in the process of examining my classmate Sean (who passed) when I arrived. When they were done, it was my turn. The oral part and the check-ride went reasonably well, and Mr. Fred gave me my temporary Commercial pilot certificate. That means that I can legally fly for the airlines now. It does not mean, however, that I fulfill the minimum requirements of most airlines. That’s what the coming flight instructor work will help me with. In the mean time, I have several more certificates and ratings to worry about. One at a time, I’m getting there!

Well done! We are so proud of you!
Wow, Arthur, you`ve known from you were 5 what you`ve wanted to do, and you`ve worked very hard to reach your goals. And now you`re getting there!
I`m very proud of you too!
